OneShot - Coffee Mill

The goal was to create a coffee grinder that fits into your minimalistic home. Because most grinders look like buky kitchen equipment.
This personal project is for espresso enthusiasts with a coffee brewing corner in their living room. I wanted to design an artistic object that is fully functional. A one-shot mill only grinds the amount of beans for one shot of espresso.
Through interior accessories research, I quickly realized that the silhouette makes those objects unique. That was my starting point. My aim was a floating and open shape that fits the trend of minimalistic and industrial objects. And I would avoid the bulky look of existing grinders.
But this airy silhouette, which I loved so much, had a huge problem: the giant gap between the top and the bottom. How the hell do you get the movement from the motor to the burrs in the top?
I found the answer by looking at old Ferraris. They have the motor in the front and the transmission in the back. Connected with a cardan shaft. And that was also my answer. A tube that connects the motor with the burrs on top.
This project was my first experiment with Blender3D. After the basic shape was set, I switched to Autodesk Alias for the final design. But came back for the interior for the contextual rendering.
I've learned to render environments with KeyShot, which I didn't try before. This project had no brand attached to it, which made the unique design possible.
The grinder with its complex mechanics would probably be in the repair shop most of the time. But I want to see more grinders that look good in a living room.
